Voyager™ DSLT Glaucoma Laser Treatment

Advanced Laser Treatment for Glaucoma

Voyager™ DSLT is an advanced form of selective laser trabeculoplasty designed to lower intraocular pressure. Unlike traditional SLT, Voyager delivers treatment without placing a gonio lens on the eye and uses automated eye tracking to guide laser delivery.

What Makes Voyager™ DSLT Different?

Voyager™ DSLT automatically delivers laser treatment through the limbus to the eye’s drainage system. The system uses SureTrac™ eye tracking to follow eye movement during treatment and does not require manual aiming or a treatment lens on the eye.

  • No treatment lens on the eye
  • Automated eye tracking
  • Quick laser delivery

How Does DSLT Help Glaucoma?

Glaucoma treatment often focuses on lowering eye pressure to help protect the optic nerve.

Voyager™ DSLT directs laser energy toward the trabecular meshwork, the eye’s natural drainage system. The treatment is intended to improve aqueous outflow and reduce intraocular pressure.

Can DSLT Reduce the Need for Eye Drops?

For some patients, laser treatment may reduce the burden of daily glaucoma medications.

In the clinical study cited by Alcon, 62% of DSLT participants were medication-free at 12 months. Whether you can reduce or discontinue drops depends on your individual response and should be determined by your eye doctor.

What to Expect

Before treatment:

We will evaluate your glaucoma, eye pressure, current medications, and overall eye health to determine whether DSLT is appropriate for you.

During treatment:

You are positioned at the Voyager™ DSLT system. No gonio treatment lens is placed on the eye, and the laser treatment is delivered automatically while the system tracks eye movement.

After treatment:

We continue to monitor your eye pressure and glaucoma. DSLT does not eliminate the need for ongoing glaucoma care.

Is Voyager™ DSLT Right for Me?

DSLT may be considered for certain patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The best treatment depends on your diagnosis, eye pressure, previous treatment, medications, and other findings from your glaucoma evaluation.

If you have glaucoma or elevated eye pressure and would like to learn whether laser treatment may be an option, contact San Carlos Eye Care to schedule an evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at staff@sancarloseyecare.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Voyager DSLT performs selective laser trabeculoplasty, but the delivery method is different. Traditional SLT generally involves manual aiming through a gonio lens. Voyager DSLT automates laser delivery and does not require a gonio lens on the eye.

Some patients may need fewer medications after treatment, while others will continue their current drops. Your doctor will determine this based on your eye pressure and response to treatment.

No. Glaucoma remains a chronic condition that requires continued monitoring.
